Welcome. My name is Linda Audet. I’m an abstract realism artist in the Appalachian foothills of Southeast Ohio, where I paint oil on canvas with a palette full of earthy colors. I’m also a Nature loving, tree hugging, herbal healing bookworm on a quasi spiritual journey.
So what is Abstract Realism, other than an oxymoron? I think of it as a continuum, and depending where art lies on that continuum, it will have more abstract or more realism. There’s so much emotion in my vision, only an abstraction can capture it. Yet I also want to know what I’m looking at so ultimately, at least for now, my work leans more toward the figurative.
Nature informs my art. I spent years living off the grid in a wooded valley, looking toward the forest for comfort and companionship. Yes, I know my paintings romanticize Nature because the truth is, Nature is tough and not at all sympathetic. It can make you grow old before your time. But it’s also beautiful and inspirational, for it can heal a wounded heart and renew a downtrodden spirit.
I have a BS from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. I worked as a journalist, published a novel and created an herbal business. I started painting in 2000 under the guidance of the late, beloved artist Calvin Lewis Sowers.
